Dividing by 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 etc.

This is another strategy that is best shown through the use of patterns

52 / 1000 = 0.052

52 / 100 = 0.52

52 / 10 = 5.2

52 / 1 = 52

52 / 0.1 = 520

52 / 0.01 = 5 200

52 / 0.001 = 52 000

Notice the pattern when you are dividing by 0.1, 0.01, 0.001 the decimal is moving to the right the amount of places the 1 is from the decimal. it should make sense that since you are dividing by a smaller place value the quotient is actually larger. It should also make sense that if you multiply a number by 1000 you would get the same answer if you divided the same number by 0.001.
